14 People Shot Yesterday in Chicago Afro-Violence - 2 in what was the nice St Bede's Neighborhood

At least 14 people — eight of whom are in their teens — were wounded in apparently unrelated shootings throughout Chicago on Monday evening into early Tuesday.

The first incident happened about 4:20 p.m., when a red Jeep or sport-utility vehicle rammed another vehicle in the 7000 block of South Justine Street. The suspects then pulled alongside the recently rammed vehicle and shot the 25-year-old driver in the back, police said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital.

Just before 5:30 p.m., an 18-year-old woman walking in the 5900 block of South Michigan Avenue was shot in the lower leg and taken in good condition to Mercy Hospital, police said.

About 5:55 p.m., a gunman approached an 18-year-old man on a bicycle in the 6500 block of South Fairfield Avenue and shot him in the back, police said. He was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

Just before 7 p.m., a 14-year-old boy standing in a doorway in the 700 block of North Harding Avenue heard a gunshot and was shot in the upper left thigh, police said. He was taken in good condition to Mount Sinai Hospital.

About 7:30 p.m., somebody in a red Ford vehicle shot two men standing on the sidewalk in the first lock of West 103rd Street, police News Affairs Officer Phillip Armstrong said.

A 22-year-old man was shot in the right buttocks area and a 24-year-old man was shot in the right thigh, Armstrong said. Both men were taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, police said.

About 9:30 p.m., a 26-year-old man was shot in the lower left leg while walking down the street near 1520 E. 67th St., a Grand Crossing District police lieutenant said. He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in good condition.

The shootings continued about 10:50 p.m. when a man, 24, was seriously injured in a shooting at 6158 S. King Drive, police said. He suffered gunshot wounds to the buttocks and left thigh and was taken to Northwestern Memorial hospital in serious condition.

About a minute later, an 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old girl were shot while working on a car in the 8100 block of South Kenneth Avenue, police said. Both were shot in the legs and listed in good condition at Christ Hospital early Tuesday. Police are looking for a silver or gray four-door sedan that a witness saw speeding away from the area after the shooting.

At 12:53 a.m., a man, 19, and a woman, 22, were shot in the 6100 block of South Paulina Avenue, police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said. Both were shot in the shoulder and taken to Christ Hospital in good condition.

Two people were shot Monday night while working on a car on Chicago’s Southwest Side.

The shooting happened about 10:50 p.m. in the 8100 block of South Kenneth Avenue, police said.

An 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old girl were working on a car when they heard shots and felt pain, Chicago Lawn District Capt. Dennis Walsh said.

The man was shot in the right knee, while the girl suffered a gunshot wound that went through her right leg, Walsh said. Both were taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

The people shot told police they did not see who fired, or where the shots came from, Walsh said. However, a witness saw a silver or gray four-door sedan, possibly a 1990s model, speed away from the area about the time of the shooting, Walsh said.

Wentworth Area detectives are investigating.
