2 blacks arrested in series of armed robberies of white victims in Beverly/Mt Greenwood
Chicago police have arrested two people in connection with a string of armed robberies that occurred in the Beverly neighborhood earlier this month, officials said.
Kingston Madison, 18, of the 7900 block of South Albany Avenue was charged with four felony counts of armed robbery with a firearm. A 16-year-old boy was also charged as a juvenile with four counts of armed robbery, police said today.
Police said the suspect charged as a juvenile was arrested Tuesday morning, and Madison was arrested on May 20.
The 16-year-old is charged in connection with an armed robbery that occurred during the evening of May 15 as some teenagers walked on the 9400 block of South Oakley Avenue, police said.
In that case, the victims were robbed by the teen and other male suspects at gunpoint of a cell phone and an electronic music player along with other items.
The armed robbery was part of a similar pattern that started in early May, with cell phones, electronics and other valuables taken from other people as they walked in the late evening hours.
Madison was charged for an incident that happened on the 10000 block of South Leavitt Street shortly after 9:30 p.m. on May 18, police said.
In the May 18 incident four teenagers were robbed of cell phones and other items at gunpoint.
