Charles Barkley On Gay Players In The NBA: "I'd Rather Have A Gay Guy That Can Play Than A Straight Guy Who Can't"
Charles Barkley, one of the NBA's 50 greatest players and probably the most outspoken and entertaining NBA player ever, is known for making us all laugh with his random rants and outburst that at many times don't make a lick of sense. I am proud to say that finally the time has come where Sir Charles makes sense.
In a recent interview Charles sat down with The Washington Post's Mike Wise to discuss whether or not it really matters if a man is gay in sports. Charles says no. He says he's played with gay guys on two of the three teams he played for. He also says: "I'd rather have a gay guy that can play than a straight guy who can't play".
Check out what else Charles had to say below:
“I didn’t think it . . . they were gay,” he said when asked Monday about Phoenix Suns President Rick Welts coming out in a New York Times story over the weekend. The Hall of Fame player and TNT analyst added he was certain he had gay teammates “on two of three teams I played on.”
