A Glenview man has been charged with sexually assaulting a young relative, officials said.Jose Guadalupe Huerta-Jimenez, 31, has been ordered held by a Cook County judge on $200,000 bail after being charged with predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and aggravated criminal sexual abuse, Cook County sheriff's officials said.
The attack occurred in November but the victim only recently informed a friend and later informed a school counselor, according to the sheriff's office.
Officials said the man, who lived at the same address as the victim, went into the victim's bedroom and sexually assaulted the girl, whose age was unavailable. The girl was able to push the man away, and he then went to a different part of the house, officials said.
The victim did not report the attack after Huerta-Jimenez said he would deny the incident. But in May, the victim told a friend who then encouraged her to speak to a school counselor.
The counselor later told the girl's parents and police.
Huerta-Jimenez was arrested by sheriff's police on May 19. Sheriff's officials alleged that the man admitted to the attack during a police interview.
He appeared in bond court on May 23 and has a June 20 court date.
