A 48-year-old man who had arranged to meet a prostitute from a Craig's List advertisement died after being shot by the woman's pimp who was also her husband, McHenry County officials said.
Timothy Smith, 26, of the 4300 block of Doty Road in unincorporated Woodstock, was charged with first degree murder, aggravated discharge of a firearm, pandering, obstructing justice and pimping, said McHenry County Sheriff Keith Nygren.
Sheriff's deputies were called to Smith's home about 11 p.m. Saturday after they received a call for an "unwanted subject," according to a release from Nygren's office.
When deputies arrived at the home, they met with Smith as well as Kimberly Smith who were waiting outside of the home, according to sheriff's officials. Kimberly Smith is Timothy Smith's wife, officials said.
Inside the home they found Kurt Milliman of Prairie Grove with a gunshot wound to his torso, officials later said correcting earlier information.
Police said that the Smith couple were the people who called police and requested that Milliman be removed. By the time police arrived, the man had been shot. He was found on a hallway floor, officials said.
Officials said Milliman had solicited a prostitute from a Craig's List ad. Kimberly Smith, 28, was subsequently charged with prostitution, obstructing justice and disorderly conduct, Nygren said.
Police said an altercation took place at the Doty address where Milliman was shot. He was pronounced dead at Centegra Woodstock Memorial Hospital.
