Need something to do today? Jaynie Thompson Benefit in Mokena, IL

TODAY: Sunday, May 22, 2011, Jaynie Thompson’s friends will be hosting a benefit at:
191 South
10160 191st Street
Mokena, IL 60448-9381
3:00 PM – 9:00 PM

Jaynie Thompson is a 46 year old single mom of two children ages 14 and 17. Along with working full time, previously singing in a band, and caring and maintaining a household for her children, she is now fighting Stage IV Bile Duct Cancer.

Bile duct cancer is extremely rare and she doesn’t fit in the usual profile for this type of cancer (this is the same cancer that struck Chicago Bears player, Walter Payton). Although there is no cure, a liver transplant, could slow the progression. However, since the cancer has metastasized, she is not a transplant candidate.

Jaynie, is currently on sick leave recovering from surgery that she underwent to remove several of her affected organs, and is in the care of a new doctor who specializes in her type of cancer. Although they have not given her a long-term prognosis, this current physician has told her that since bile duct cancer is resistant to chemotherapy unless the cancer rapidly progresses, the treatment is not a good option for her. Jaynie is a fighter, and has decided to not sit still and wait for progression, so she has arranged appointments with specialist, Dr. David Nagnorey at Mayo Clinic, and Cancer Treatment Centers of America to get their opinions to be sure that she is doing all that she can do.

For several years, Jaynie was the lead singer in the band “Timings Everything.” Together they donated their time and services unselfishly at benefits for others who have been stricken with various diseases, and now we are “giving back” to her. The benefit for Jaynie is being held to raise money for her treatment, and her current and upcoming doctor bills. Although we have set-up a separate tax identification number for this benefit, since this is not organized as a not-for-profit organization, monetary contributions are not tax deductible.

Please come join everyone for an enjoyable afternoon and to help Jaynie’s family defray some of the enormous costs that are being incurred due to her illness. Tickets are $50.00 in advance and $55.00 at the door. We would greatly appreciate anything you could contribute to this worthy event.
