Gunfire erupts near Chicago police station
One man was arrested for shooting at another down the street from a West Side Chicago police station Thursday night, police said, citing preliminary information.
The second man, who told police he was being shot at, also was taken into custody when officers caught up with him and found a gun in his possession, police added.
That sequence of events started about 8 p.m. at West Ogden and South Sawyer avenues, near the Ogden District police station, 3315 W. Ogden Ave.
The man being fired on claimed the shooter also was trying to rob him, police said. An officer chased the man being fired at to the 1800 block of South Kedzie Avenue, where he and the cop struggled with one another, police said.
The officer’s shoulder was slightly injured during the scuffle, police added, and the man was taken into custody. Police said a gun was found in his possession.
The shooter also was placed under arrest, police said. Further details of the incident weren’t immediately available as Harrison Area detectives were called to the shooting scene to investigate
