Man hurt in shoot-out with Chicago cops in South Deering

A man suffered minor injuries after a shoot-out with police in the South Deering neighborhood on the Far South Side, officials said.

Officers spotted the man firing into a crowd in a alley near South Hoxie Avenue and East 105th Street at about 11:30 p.m. Thursday, according to South Chicago District police.

The man and officers fired at each other but no one was hit in the exchange. The man then ran away but was arrested by the officers, police said. At some point during the chase or arrest, the man suffered a "small laceration" to the head, according to police spokesman Robert Perez.

He was treated at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn and released, Perez said.

Two other men were wounded in other shooting Thursday night.

At 11:21 p.m., a 24-year-old man was wounded in the arm and back when a gunman opened fire while he sat on a porch in the 2500 block of West 12th Place, according to police.

The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.

Around 11 p.m., a 20-year-old man was shot in the buttocks in the 6300 block of South Paulina Street, police said.

He was taken in critical condition to Mount Sinai.

No one was in custody this morning for the shootings.
