Man shot in face on Chicago's West Side...But crime is down....Really!

A 22-year-old was seriously wounded tonight in a shooting in the city’s West Garfield Park neighborhood, police said.

The victim was shot in the face about 7:20 p.m. in the 4800 block of West Superior Street, said police spokesman Officer Phil Armstrong.

Medical technicians worked to stabilize the victim on the scene before taking him to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition, Armstrong said.

Police didn't offer a motive, but a police source said the victim did not appear to have a gang affiliation.

No arrests had been made in the shooting.
