LOS ANGELES - Police are still hunting for the gunman who fatally shot an MTV music coordinator steps from his home on Mother's Day.
Gabriel Ben-Meir, 30, was shot in the head between midnight and 1 a.m. Sunday on a well-manicured block near Wilshire's tony Miracle Mile, police said.
Investigators are trying to identify suspects and determine a motive.
Ben-Meir worked as a music coordinator for MTV on a long list of shows including "The Hard Times of RJ Berger," "Nitro Circus," and Ashton Kutcher's "Punk'd."
"We are shocked and saddened by the tragic death of Gabe Ben-Meir, who was a valued member of the MTV family and a beloved and dedicated colleague and friend," MTV management said in a statement.
"Our hearts go out to his family."
A dog walker discovered Ben-Meir lying face down on the sidewalk in a pool of blood around 6 a.m. Sunday. His BMW was parked a few steps away, the Los Angeles Times reported.
It's not clear if he was robbed.
Ben-Meir's father, Nick, is a music industry business manager and his sister, Alexis, works for artist wrangling firm Red Light Management on bands that include Good Charlotte and Sum 41.
"(He was) one of the kindest and most gentle souls I have and will ever come across," Alexis told the Los Angeles Times. "He was not only my brother but my best friend."
