3 men wounded in West Pullman shootings

Three men were shot and wounded in separate incidents in the West Pullman neighborhood on the city's South Side this afternoon, according to police.

Two men were playing basketball on the 12100 block of South Parnell Avenue around 4:20 p.m. when they heard gunshots and realized that they had been hit, police said. One victim, 22, was shot in the left leg and was listed in "stable" condition at MetroSouth Medical Center in Blue Island. The other victim, 23, was hit in the upper right leg and was in "stable" condition at Stroger Hospital.

About 15 minutes later, a 23-year-old man was shot in the left ankle and thigh while waiting for a bus on the 100 block of West 119th Street, according to police. The man heard gunshots and tried to run for cover, then realized that he had been shot, police said. He was in "stable" condition at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

No one was in custody for the shootings and Calumet detectives were investigating.

Man shot dead on Englewood porch

A 31-year-old man was shot to death at an Englewood residence early this evening, according to police.

The victim was sitting on the front porch at the 6300 block of South Morgan Street around 6 p.m. when someone approached him, fired shots and fled the scene, police said, citing preliminary information. The man was shot multiple times and was unresponsive at the scene, police said.

The victim, who remained unidentified, was pronounced dead on the scene at 6:10 p.m., a spokesman for the Cook County medical examiner's office said.

No one was in custody and Wentworth Area detectives were investigating.


2 wounded in shootings

Two people were wounded in separate shootings late Tuesday and early this morning.

At 11:51 p.m. Tuesday in the Roseland neighborhood on the Far South Side, a man in his 20s suffered a gunshot wound to his leg and arm in the 10700 block of South Prairie Avenue, according to a release from police News Affairs.

He was taken to Christ where he was listed in "stable" condition.

At 12:35 a.m. in the South Austin neighborhood on the West Side, a 19-year-old man was shot in the arm during a drive-by in the 5700 block of West Race Avenue, the release said.

The man was standing on the sidewalk when the shooting occurred.

He was taken to Stroger where he was also listed as stable.

No one was in custody for either shooting and area detectives were investigating.
